Our Motto

Mottos can be trite, too short, too clever; we've tried to make ours express as much about the church and its people as we can in one short phrase:

"a caring church for progressive thinking people."

• Caring because that's what we do, for each other, the wider community, and the world. We honestly do care: you can hear it in our voices, as we share joys and concerns at the beginning of each worship service.
• Church because we live and move and have our being in God and the traditions of Christianity.
• Thinking because we do that, a lot. It's been said of our church that it's "not a place where you check your brain at the door"! We study, and learn, and discuss.
• People because we are that: real people, ready to take God's message to the world.
• And Progressive: this most recent addition to our motto identifies us with issues of social justice, tolerance and diversity.
