The official newspaper for Mason Township news is The Elkhart Truth. Public notices are published in the Legal Section of The Elkhart Truth.
Meetings & Committees
Mason Township meetings are held within the guidelines of the Open Meetings Act. The public is welcomed.
Township Board
The Mason Township Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm (Eastern time) at the Township Hall. Public comment is heard.
Building Department
The Zoning Administrator & the Building Department inspectors for Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical are to be called (phone). The Building Inspector is at the Township Hall on Thursday evenings. Nov. - Mar. Thursdays 7pm - 8pm (Eastern Time)
Apr. - Oct. Thursdays 7pm - 9pm (Eastern Time)
Board of Review
The Board of Review reviews the tax roll, corrects any errors and hears appeals regarding property assessments. Members are appointed by the Township Board.
Residents may appeal assessments and taxes by meeting with the Board of Review or by mail to: Assessor Dianna McGrew

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for developing and adhering to a Comprehensive Plan for development and preservation of the Township and its land use. Recommendations are referred to the Township Board for action. Members are appointed by the Township Board.
Regular quarterly meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the second Monday of March, June, September, and December. Special meetings can be arranged, with payment of a fee.
Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals considers requests for zoning changes, variances, and special land use permits. Members are appointed by the Township Board.
Building Board of Appeals
The Building Board of Appeals considers interpretations of the building codes. Members are appointed by the Township Board.
